Victory Tutorial Programs
The VICTORY Tutorial Program is in collaboration with the City of Austin and AISD. The program provides one-to-one volunteer tutoring matches to help at-risk youth. The program takes place at various libraries around the city.
VICTORY Tutorials works with all grade-levels and all subjects. Students and their parents sign up for tutoring. Many tutors come from the work-study university program however volunteer tutors are needed. Tutors can assist with elementary reading or help prepare high school students for their exit-level TAKS test via the computer.
This is a great option for people who cannot leave work since these tutorials occur after-school and in the evenings.

AmeriCorps for Community Engagement and Education (ACEE)
In 1994, the Charles A. Dana Center at The University of Texas and the AmeriCorps for Community Engagement and Education (ACEE) program first came together with AISD to make a difference in the lives of young school children who struggled with reading. This collaboration led to the implementation of a research-based literacy intervention program. The goal of the ACEE program is to provide a high-quality, comprehensive, bilingual literacy tutoring program that supports students, families, and the community. With ongoing support and training from literacy specialists, ACEE members work in the classroom to provide literacy tutoring for students in kindergarten through first grade. Tutoring takes place in both one-to-one and small group sessions.
Volunteer tutors are needed one hour per week to assist full-time ACEE volunteers. Volunteers can assist students at the elementary level with literacy skills.
The 2004-2005 ACEE program includes 25 full-time AmeriCorps members and four Austin elementary schools: Allison Elementary, Graham Elementary, Walnut Creek Elementary, and Winn Elementary.
