Mack Brown, Burson-Marsteller, and key legislators
join the City of Austin to recruit Classroom Coaches to Change the Game for Austin Public Schools
UT Coach Mack Brown, leads the Austin Partners in Education Classroom Coaching team as Head Coach. Two years ago, the City of Austin catapulted hundreds of students to academic success by committing 300 volunteers in APIE's proven model for effective volunteer engagement. Under Coach Brown's leadership, state, corporate, and community agencies will join the City of Austin proven to bring 800 Classroom Coaches into over 100 classrooms this fall. The Classroom Coaching campaign will launch mid-August, 2009. Just under a thousand Classroom Coaches will spend an hour a week in classrooms across the city, changing the game for Austin Public School students.
Karen Hughes, Global Vice Chairman of Burson-Marsteller, became an advocate for classroom coaching after hearing about the overwhelming success of the innovative Classroom Coaching model. Hughes created the 41st Hour Campaign, enlisting state agency leaders to join city, corporate, and community organizations. Representative Donna Howard has joined the team as an enthusiastic spokesperson for volunteer involvement in Classroom Coaching. She is featured in the television public service announcement, along with Edna Butts, General Counsel for Senator Kirk Watson, a long time classroom coach. The public service announcement will air on KEYE 42 and Time-Warner News 8.
A massive media campaign launches Monday, August 10th, with this website, 10 Capital Metro Bus advertisements, RunTex billboards, and spots on KEYE TV, Time Warner TV, Univision TV, Univision Radio, BMP Radio, Ahora Si, and all of the Clear Channel radio stations.
