Far too few Austin students are prepared to graduate from high school, college and career ready. Research shows that achievement gaps between different income groups exist in early grades and become wider as students enter middle school and high school.
You can take action by committing just 45 minutes per week during the school year to work with a small group of students (1 – 3) and provide support in reading or math. Our goal is to recruit more than 1,000 community volunteers and connect them with students in underresourced schools who need their help the most. Participating in APIE programs offers students a safe space and a feeling of connectedness with a caring adult – both are benefits that contribute to closing the achievement gap.
Schedules are now posted! Go to our Classroom Coaching Center and choose Math or Reading (English) or Reading (Spanish). Just 45 minutes each week will make a difference in a student’s lifetime education.
It’s the Season! Please consider helping out a school by meeting a need on their holiday wish lists. The needs range from glue sticks to overhead projectors. Any support you can provide will be very appreciated.
Search school needs on our new Adopt a School portal and consider a donation.
Thank you for supporting our students and our teachers! Happy Holidays!
