Follow the links below to learn more!

These include some of our most frequently asked about topics.  New content will be added over time, so check this site often!

Hands-On Learning - Pam Johnson & Kelly Meshell, AISD Middle School Math Specialists, showed us how to use Ratio Tables, a technique many saw in the first few weeks of the program. (held Monday, October 5, 11am-1pm)

Building a Team  - John Thoms, AISD Postive Behavior Support Specialist, gave us great tips on building & sustaining relationships, helping students accept their mistakes, and setting expectations.  (held Friday, October 23, 11am-1pm)

Motivation  - Add to your toolkit on building relationships, encouraging independence, and developing a growth mindset. (cancelled November/scheduled Monday, January 25, 6-8 pm)

Diverse Youth & Adolescence - See the stats behind your schools and gain a deeper understanding of your students, including the challenges that can accompany economic need. (cancelled Nov; held February 19; scheduled Friday, March 5, 11-1)

The TAKS Test  - The TAKS is the state-mandated exam that all students take in compliance with No Child Left Behind.  Want to know more? (held Thursday, January 7, 11am-1 pm)

Modern Math - Have you seen your students doing math in strange ways you don't understand?  Maybe they multiply by drawing a grid or divide by drawing a giant 7?  Learn more (and have some fun with math). (scheduled Friday, February 19, 2-4 pm)

Misunderstood Minds - Do you have one or more students that truly struggle with attention, reading, writing, or mathematics?  Follow this link to the excellent Misunderstood Minds website, companion to a PBS special, that "profiles a variety of learning problems and expert opinions.  It is designed to give parents and teachers a better understanding of learning processes, insights into difficulties, and strategies for responding."
