Share your love of reading with students, and make reading a meaningful part of their lives!

In Reading Classroom Coaching, volunteers become Coaches, leading 2 to 3 students in discussions on high-interest stories, plays, poems, and other texts. Coaches promote a love of reading while helping students study vocabulary, improve fluency, and work on comprehension.

Volunteer and student groups stick together throughout the school year, meeting for 45 minutes each week. Much like any athletic team, improving an individual player’s skills is just one goal. Teams also learn how to work together, communicate with people of different backgrounds, and form personal relationships.

Each group will meet in a regularly scheduled class with a teacher there for support. Coaches are given curriculum and training before they enter the classroom, as well as ongoing support throughout the year. For more details about the Classroom Coaching structure, click here.
