Gary Walsh of KUT interviews APIE’s Director of Communications Jennifer Rees about APIE’s new partnership with wearebedrock.com. The interview aired several days in mid-September.
KEYE TV’s Jerry Wagley produced APIE’s 2011 PSA, and ran the spot for us repeatedly during the recruitment cycle. Time Warner picked up the PSA and gave APIE 100 30 second spots as part of APIE’s affiliation with their Connect a Million Minds initiative. Thanks to the Mayor and Marc Ott for helping with the spot.
Clear Channel’s Public Affairs Show interviewed Middle School Reading Classroom Coach Coordinator Jessica Carley, and Chief Service Office Andy Mormon. The interview ran on all five Clear Channel radio stations.

Austin Partners in Education Receives $300,000 in Funding for Classroom Coaching and Mentor Programs in Austin ISD. APIE recently received $300,000 in funding and is deploying more than 950 Classroom Coaches into AISD schools every week this spring, in addition to 800 mentors and thousands of school volunteers.

Annual Salute Ceremony Honors Austin Teachers, Civic Leaders and the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation. Salute - the Annual Celebration of Excellence in Austin ISD was hosted by Austin Partners in Education (APIE) May 18th at the Long Center for the Performing Arts with the City of Austin support as the Signature Sponsor. Police Chief Art Acevedo led the event as master of ceremonies. The event included the Teacher of the Year awards, inductions into the Hall of Fame, Chair’s and Partner of the Year awards, a Student of the Year, and other District awards.

Austin Partners in Education Receives $150,000 to Support Classroom Coaching Programs for Economically Disadvantaged Youth. Austin Partners in Education’s Classroom Coaching has received a grant from the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation to increase student outcomes at key academic watersheds. The $150,000 grant supports the placement of more than 850 trained volunteers in small interactive groups of students in Austin ISD. Focused on early Reading, middle school Reading and Math, and College Readiness, coaches support thousands of students in weekly 45 minute sessions involving the entire class. During coaching sessions the teacher works individually with students and assesses need. Additional coaches help hundreds of struggling students with daily support to accelerate their academic progress. The funding supports Austin Partners in Education’s efforts to serve 89 percent or higher economically disadvantaged student populations in under-resourced communities.
